Welcome to the Earth Sciences
"Civilization exists by geological consent, subject to change at any moment"
Will Durant
Regardless of how little we may think about it, our lives are intimately linked with the earth and its environs; rocks and soils, air and water, energy from the sun, and the variety of life around us, are our heritage. The more we understand the workings of this "oasis in space", the more we understand our relationship to it. As a teacher of the earth and space sciences, I hope to transmit some of my life-long passion for knowledge about our planet, the forces that shape it, the systems that sustain it, and the universe it inhabits. I invite you into these wonders and hope that they sustain your thinking and curiosity as much as they do mine. Please browse the links in this web site to explore new scientific findings in Astronomy, Geology, Climate Change and Environmental Science. In particular, I urge you to look at the links in Earth Science Education, for there is where you will find the next generation of seekers of knowledge.
